There’s a lot of spinning rods labeled “Steelhead” or “Salmon & Steelhead” rods, and any of these will work well. Normally you’ll want about a 8’6 rod. If your looking for a good deal, at Bass Pro Shops, they have the Browning® Fishing Six Rivers Salmon/Steelhead Spinning Rods on sale, and the 8’6 medium action should do well, and it’s only $55.

I’d match that very nice rod with a Team Daiwa® TD-Pro Spinning Reel, which are on sale for $80 (normally $100). It’s pretty much all in personal preference what size you’ll need/want.

An 8-weight White River® Classic Rod/Orvis® Battenkill Mid Arbor Reel Complete Fly Outfit should do fine for them, the combo is available at Bass Pro Shops for $270.

With your spinning combo always remember to use a fluorocarbon leader when fishing clear water.
