I just got a fly rod the other day and it broke on our camping trip. I have to send in a form and I am not sure what the parts are the fly rod? Does anyone know the a website that has a picture of a Fly fishing rod and it shows the names of the parts of the fly rod?

I have been fishing for over twenty years and now want to topwater fly fish in large ponds and small lakes in Mississippi for bass and bream. My question is would it be better to buy a pre-rigged topwater Albright combo from Bass Pro for $149.99 (http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=83668&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults)or buy an Eagle Claw Trailmaster for an eBay PowerSeller (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120244063026&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=002) for $66.00 and rig it myself. I have never rigged a fly rod before but do understand that the line weight must match the reel. There are also several diagrams on the Net.
The Albright says that it’s pre-rigged with backing and line but I see nothing about a leader. What type of leader would I need?

I am not interested in buying gear or any sales pomotions. I get enough of that my popup blocker is exhausted. Are there sites with any good fly fishing flies, with pictures, that work in certain rivers or states. Stories of these flies will be very interesting. No fish tales please.

i’mgoing up to the manistee river this weekend and plan to do some fishing. what is the best way to fish for trout? What will catch the most fish? I don’t have a fly rod, but can i tie a fly to my line and just toss it out and let the fly float? What kind of powerbait (if any) is best for trout? What live bait is best? How should i rig my line so it doesn’t get snagged on the bottom of the flowing river? Any other tips?

We are canoeing the Ausable River in Michigan next weekend. We will be going from Mio to Lake Huron. We are not experianced fishers, but would like to have a trout dinner one of those nights. We do not have room for any fly fishing rods. We will just be taking our small travel rods. Also, any advice for doing that run? Anything that we should bring, that you don’t usually need, for that run?

I am a relatively inexperienced fly fisherman having a casting problem. I took lessons last year, I have been fishing with a fly rod for about a year and I have logged hundreds of hours on the water to this point. This weekend I was traveling and had the opportunity to do some fishing along the way. For some reason, I was creating horrible twists which eventually got bad enough to create knots in my leader and tippet. I am not talking about getting an occasional wind knot or a little knot from bad casting, it was twisting badly enough that it was consuming 6 inches to a foot of leader/tippet and it was happening after 12-15 casts.

I really want to get into fly fishing. I have spin fished since I came out of the womb and never really gotten into casting flies. I have zero knowledge on it. I have zero gear and no idea where to start. I am going to attend a beginner’s class at my local Orvis outfitter’s store and I expect them to tell me a ton. I just can’t wait for the class in a week. Anyway, any and all info welcome! I need some lists of rods and reels, line, and any other gear I should know about! Thanks!
